“Surge of cravings, makes men wretched”
Quatrains recited by the late Ustad Sher Ahmad Yawar Kangoorchi
Designed and arranged by his son, Ahmad Mahmood Imprator
English translation by M. Nazif Shahrani
Quatrains
When the hunter of death, takes aim at anyone
Makes the target, first weak and hug the ground
Pains and hidden concerns of daily life
Turns the youth into decrepit old man
Oh, Kangoorchi
-------------------------------------------------------
For everyone, at all time, I wish the best of health
I shall always, refuse to accept the burden of condemnation
In doing things despicable, we are all the same, guilty!
Until the moment of death, we show no remorse
Oh, Kangoorchi
-------------------------------------------------------
Don’t forget the sight of, our much burdened countenance
Don’t add to the added worries our countenance, again
Oh object of my desire, and the dispenser of life’s essence
Don’t leave without seeing, the unseen countenance of mine
Oh, Kangoorchi
-------------------------------------------------------
Don’t keep my looks, from purview of your sight
Make room for my head, next to yours
Always open to your lovely face, is my doorway
Don’t close my doorway to your own face
Oh, Kangoorchi
-------------------------------------------------------
When desire exceeds, enthusiasm grows
When enthusiasm grow, aches the heart in chest
When greed remains unmet, makes us a vagabond
When cravings surge, makes men wretched
Oh, Kangoorchi
